In Singapore, you can find the regular beef balls (Bakso) at Indonesian restaurants or hawker centres. But there is only 1 place where you can find many variation of baksos from Cheese-stuffed to Volcano-themed! This place is called Planet Bakso.

As of April 2020, here is their menu:

Most of their Bakso are priced at $7 which is pretty worth it considering the amount of meat and noodle portion size per serving. Out of the 10 that is available, I have only tasted 4 of them.

1. Bakso Cheese

This one has to be served when it is piping HOT because once it is cold, the cheese become less gooey than you expect. But nonetheless, the Cheese-stuffed bakso remained as the main attraction of the whole dish. When cheese is involved, it can hardly be a miss.

2. Bakso Urat / Bakso Urat Spesial

Both the Bakso Urat and Bakso Urat Special are made with the same ingredients. The difference are only in its size and the accompanied items that comes with each set.

The Bakso Urat in overall actually has a more beefy texture and flavor compared to regular beef balls. Probably because Bakso Urat includes beef tendons.

3. Bakso Mercon

The Bakso Mercon may look harmless, but once you put it in your mouth, a gush of SPICE hits your tongue and your throat. Luckily, the bakso contains a mix of ground beef and their special sambal/chilli, so every bite will have that beefiness as well. But this is not its FINAL form, if you have the guts, the Bakso Merapi will be your greatest challenge.

4. Bakso Volcano

Its name may be menacing but it is at the a similar spice level as Bakso Mercon. The Bakso Volcano is a humongous Volcano-shaped bakso that is tightly stuffed with quail eggs, mini baksos, beef strips and their iconic sambal. However, recently they revised it and decided to switch the quail eggs with more mini baksos to prevent drop in quality, which is very thoughtful of them.

So if you do wanna get a taste of their unique baksos, do head down to their Facebook Page @Baksoinsg and make your orders via messenger. Otherwise, follow their page for more updates on their next event!

If you haven't taste or even know what is a Beef ball Noodle, well let me just say that it is one of the most popular street food in Indonesia. Beef ball noodles are balls of ground beef mixed with spices and flour and are boiled to cook instead of frying like Western meatballs. They are then served with Yellow or Bee Hoon noodles in a bowl full of beef broth.
